Lasmi's Thoughts

Hi, nice to meet you!

Hi! I am Lasmi. I like learning how to make sense of human behaviour. This interest grew on me since my undergraduate study in psychology. I initially wanted to become an artist, hence there was a period of my life when I intensely practised my drawing skills (see Artworks). However, I noticed that it was because I am in awe of how passionate artists usually are. Now I understand that I can still have a burning passion in a colder line of work, like being a scientist.

I have worked for almost 5 years as a user researcher and grew interest in utilising quantitative data to understand human behaviour. I am pursuing a PhD in interdisciplinary research that combines behavioural and computational science. This is mostly because I thrive in an ambitious, less-structured environment surrounded by trusting people. A PhD has a greater likelihood to provide that environment.

Currently, I am affiliated with the Complexity Science Hub (CSH): Collective Minds lab, and the University of Vienna. However, the stuff I put on this site does not necessarily represent their views or opinions.

Skills

Before this, I worked as a UX Consultant. Based on Design Thinking principles, I helped consult companies to improve user experience in their products so people will actually benefit from them. I am the kind of team member that is a good fit in early-stage companies where problems are ambigious and require high-agency.

I have experience in programming for data analysis (R & Python), statistical knowledge to do hypothesis testing, and user research skills to do primary research like interviewing and moderating focus group discussions.
